2024 has started off nothing short of momentous for Fred again.. and Overmono, who just teamed up with Lil Yachty to unveil “stayinit.” Coming alongside a minimalistic yet stunning music video, “stayinit” masterfully combines the three artists’ respective styles and serves as yet another testament to Fred again.. and Overmono’s unmatched technical and stylistic prowess.
Initially teased by way of an Instagram post shortly after Fred again.. was in the studio with Truss and Tessela of Overmono, “stayinit” was brought to life when the four talents joined forces for a last-minute pop-up show at The Knockdown Center in New York–in classic Fred again.. fashion–followed by an appearance at The Lot Radio.
The release of “stayinit" was then announced less than 24 hours before it officially hit streaming platforms, and it’s safe to say that it arguably makes for one of Fred again.. and Overmono’s strongest single releases to date. Perfectly combining their respective sounds and aesthetics in a collaboration that was a long time coming, the three producers’ razor-sharp production nicely juxtaposes Lil Yachty’s heavenly vocal performance, making for a tune that’s tailor-made for the big speaker systems.
The official music video for “stayinit,” which accompanied the single on release day, fittingly features Lil Yachty listening to the song on a large sound system for the very first time.
“Hiiiii we haven’t done a video in ages but I thought it would be nice to try and capture the moment the yachty hears this song on a properrrr system for the first time! Like I’m pretty sure that before this he might have only heard it thru his phone lol. And this tune is obviously builtttt for rooms and sound like this. So it was fun to get to play it to him like that,” read Fred again..'s statement under the stunning one-shot video.
